Liminal Engagement
- May 4–June 2, 2007
- Soo Sunny Park
Dartmouth University art professor Soo Sunny Park combines an architectural sensibility of space with an artist’s vision to create engaging installations and sculptures. Park often uses transformative materials such as vinyl, air, and light in her interactive works to encourage viewers to cross experiential thresholds. Meticulously detailed and executed while also monumental, her works straddle nature’s intrinsic chaos and order. Whether investigating the specific sites, the immutable, or the ephemeral, Park greets the viewer with novel visual and spatial phenomena. Her works, environments and experiences, transcend the standard art object’s physicality and engender personally and spatially significant revelations. This solo exhibition will include an installation of translucent rib vaulting as well as multiple wall sculptures, and with it, we celebrate this innovative artist and teacher.
