A Fork in the Road: James Florschutz and Meg Walker

A Fork in the Road: James Florschutz and Meg Walker

Friday, May 11–Sunday, June 25, 2006
Vermont-based artists James Florschutz and Meg Walker derive minimal, modernist works from the rural landscape. Florschutz’s large-scale installation, the steady alignment of hundreds of stakes, creates a visually compelling organic shape that invites exploration. The two-dimensional pieces created during the installation’s conception provide insight into Florschutz’s materials and form. Meg Walker’s sculptures of abstracted barns, animals, and the human brain embody a delicate balance and beauty. Walker uses an array of materials, including metal, wood, cardboard, and newspaper, and a reductive style to create works that suggest more than they represent.
