Picturing the Landscape, Firehouse Gallery Camp

August 6–10, Afternoon Camp (1–4pm)
Ages 12-14
Using the Firehouse Gallery as a creative resource for information and inspiration, campers will investigate the current exhibition on view and then engage in unique art projects and activities based on the concepts, techniques, and materials in the exhibition. This camp is based on the solo retrospective of Wes Disney, an important Vermont photographer. Living in Vermont in the early 1970s, Wes Disney was greatly inspired by the beauty of the natural landscape, and his photographs often incorporated collage, paint, and imagery drawn directly onto the photograph. Over the course of the week, teens will be encouraged to experiment with a variety of media, including photography, painting and drawing. Field trips to the surrounding countryside, including a trip to Wes Disney’s own land, will be included for creative inspiration and production. The camp will culminate with a final art show/presentation. (CLASS CODE: 832494-1)
