BCA/FlynnArts present: NEW! Puppets, Parades and Pageantry

Come be a part of the festivities of the Champlain Quadricentennial with Burlington City Arts and the Flynn Center! We’ll spend half our day at BCA exploring the art of pageantry while designing our own whimsical spirit sticks, puppets, masks, costumes and more. At the Flynn, we’ll spend the other half day learning to animate our creations and ourselves through puppetry and theater, as kids prepare to be a part of the pageantry in the largest parade in Vermont history: the Champlain Quadricentennial signature event!

On Saturday, July 11th, campers are invited to join the parade with Vermonters of all ages from all 251 towns, working their way through city streets festooned with colorful
flags and banners. Burlington will play host to the entire region, including communities from New York and Quebec and will feature dozens of school marching bands, legions of public officials and visiting dignitaries, and scores of inventive floats, unusual vehicles, and extraordinary special features.

This special partner camp is led by teaching artists from BCA and the Flynn Center. Burlington City Arts will provide supervision during lunch and campers will be escorted between the two organizations.
