Clay: Past thru Present
- Mon Jul 6- Fri Jul 10, (9am-12pm).
- Ages 6-8
Limit: 12
In this camp, we will begin by creating and firing clay projects as they would have been in early Vermont history, including coil-building and pit firings. We will focus on functional ware and decorative pieces of the time. Through the week we will move towards the modern ceramic techniques of today, such as wheel throwing and contemporary slip designs.
On Saturday, July 11th, campers are invited to march in the largest parade in Vermont history—the Champlain Quadricentennial signature event! The parade will feature Vermonters of all ages from all 251 towns and will work its way through city streets festooned with colorful flags and banners. Burlington will play host to the entire region, including communities from New York and Quebec and will feature dozens of school marching bands, legions of public officials and visiting dignitaries, and scores of inventive floats, unusual vehicles, and extraordinary special features.
