Silkscreening
- Thursdays, October 7–November 11, 7-9pm

Learn to design and print posters, t-shirts, fine art prints and more! Students will be exposed to a variety of techniques for transferring and printing images using hand-drawn, photographic or borrowed imagery. Learn how to apply photo emulsion, how to use a silkscreen exposure unit and how to mix and print images with water-based inks. Cost includes use of open studio hours for class work. Leah Cooper is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a major in Studio Art and a focus on printmaking. While at UVM, she maintained a position on the Dean’s List and was also the Teachers Assistant in the continuing education silkscreen class. Leah works for Select Design LTD and is trained in operating 6, 10, and 12 color manual and auto printing presses. She currently works in the pre-press department handling the production schedule with responsibilities including burning and reclaiming screens.

Studio 250 is equipped for relief and intaglio printmaking (including etching), as well as letterpress and monotype, and offers extensive open studio hours at affordable rates for seasoned printmakers as well as beginning students.

What is Printmaking

This is an introduction class of a whole platter of printing techniques that can be used in combination to create unique prints. Students will be encouraged to explore and use a variety of layering techniques and to have fun experimenting. Demonstrations on intaglio, mono printing, relief, paper litho and stencils are included. Cost includes use of open studio hours for class work. Printmaking Workshop

Join Frog Hollow printmaker Daryl Storrs in this exciting two-day workshop. Students will learn to make a multi-block color linocut print, explore the visual language of mark making with cutting tools, as well as the basics of paper tearing and inking. Using simple color drawings, students will then translate their work onto multiple linoleum blocks, creating a new image. Discover color separations, image transferring, color mixing, rainbow rolls, mask making and registration. No previous experience necessary. With 25 years of printmaking experience, Daryl V. Storrs creates hand-printed, hand-painted lithographic prints. Her experience comes from working with other artists, including Middlebury College’s David Bumbeck, and Sabra Field, a well-known Vermont woodcut artist. Daryl also spent a six-week printmaking residency at The MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, NH, and holds a Masters in Printmaking from U-Mass Amherst. Daryl’s focus has been on color and sense of place, reflecting the multiple dimensions of nature and the Vermont landscape.

Intro to Woodcut Prints
- Tuesdays, November 9-December 14, 6-8:30pm

Discover the unique process of woodblock printing during this six-week long introductory class. Learn how to create a composition appropriate for carving and reproduce your image through a series of prints onto paper or cloth. This is a great technique for card making, posters and fine art prints. Cost includes use of open studio hours for class work. Material list provided, some materials included. Angie Iannuzzi received her Bachelors Degree in Art Education from Johnson State College. She has taught a variety of mediums and age ranges from preschool to adults at Smuggler’s Notch, Helen Day Art Center in Stowe and the New North End Youth Center in Burlington. She also assisted in printmaking classes at Johnson State College. Her own artwork consists of printmaking, ceramics and beaded jewelry.
