Wheel-Throwing I with Cathy Abraham

Mondays, July 13-August 10, 6-8:30pm

This five-week class is an introduction to clay, pottery and the ceramics studio. Students will be working primarily on the potter’s wheel learning basic throwing and forming techniques. Projects may include vases, mugs, and bowls. Students will also be guided through the various finishing techniques using the studio’s house slips and glazes. No experience necessary! Over 20 hrs/week of open studio time to practice! (CLASS CODE: 821510-1)

Precious Metal Clay with Rebecca Macomber (CLASS CODE: 821532-1)

Tuesdays, July 14-August 25, 6-8:30pm
Limit: 10
Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is a composite of 90% fine silver and 10% water and organic binder. It can be shaped just like any other kind of clay and when fired burns out the binder leaving a solid silver piece. In this class, a variety of techniques will be demonstrated showing the versatility of the material and students will be able to create several pieces. Material fees are not included and will vary based on type and amount of metals used. (CLASS CODE: 821532-1)

Wheel-Throwing II with Jeremy Ayers

Thursdays, July 16-August 13, 6:30-9pm
Limit: 12
Prerequisite: Basic wheel experience
In this mixed level class for advanced beginners and intermediate potters, students will learn individualized tips and challenges for advancement on the wheel. Demonstrations and instruction will cover advanced throwing, trimming, and glazing techniques. Individual projects will be encouraged. Students must be proficient in centering and throwing cylinders.
