Clay Classes for Adults

Parent and Child Wheel

Saturdays, March 6-April 3, 10-11:30am
Limit: 10
This five-week class will introduce young and younger alike to working with clay using the potter’s wheel while having a memorable experience with your child, aged 4-9. Students will practice basic wheel working techniques and will also be introduced to handle making, trimming and glazing. Parents and children will each use their own wheel. Parents are expected to help monitor their child. All clay, tools, glazes and firings are included. (CLASS CODE: 811539-1)

Wheel-Throwing I

Mondays, January 25- March 15, 6-8:30pm
Limit: 12
This class is an introduction to clay, pottery and the ceramics studio. Students will be working primarily on the potter’s wheel learning basic throwing and forming techniques. Projects may include vases, mugs, plates, and bowls. Students will also be guided through the various finishing techniques using the studio’s house slips and glazes. No experience necessary! Over 20 hrs/week of open studio time to practice. (CLASS CODE: 811510-1)

Wheel-Throwing II

Tuesdays, March 23 - May 4, 7-9:30pm
Prerequisite: Proficiency in centering and throwing basic cups and bowls.
Limit: 12
In this mixed level class for advanced beginners and intermediate potters, students will learn individualized tips and challenges for advancement on the wheel. Demonstrations and instruction will cover intermediate throwing, trimming, and glazing techniques. Individual projects will be encouraged. Students must be proficient in centering and throwing basic cups and bowls. Over 20 hrs/week of open studio time to practice. (CLASS CODE: 811511-2)
